An empathetic business strategist, relationship builder and storyteller, Gary has spent the last 15+ years working with global advertising networks (WPP/GroupM, CSM), premier properties, iconic brands and nonprofits across culinary, culture, sports, social impact and tech.
Gary has advised organizations such as Audi, Volkswagen, Major League Baseball, the James Beard Foundation and the Jackie Robinson Foundation. He loves bringing diverse teams together to create breakthrough ideas informed by data, animated by culture, and grounded in bettering society.
Gary is a partner at Launch Angle, an agile network of media/marketing experts that create growth strategies for clients such as Netflix, Chobani, The Infatuation/Zagat and TripAdvisor. Working with the workforce development nonprofit, the Job Opportunities Task Force, Gary is creating a limited edition brew with Guinness. He also founded Subterranean, a strategic advisory at the intersection of culinary and purpose with clients including Audi, CSM and Cornell. Gary built Audi’s culinary platform, which
advocates for gender equity in partnership with James Beard Foundation’s female restaurateur accelerator. He conceptualized Proof, which received Event Marketer’s Award for Best Pop-Up Retail Experience, generated national press and featured Chef Nina Compton.
Previously, he led the Volkswagen experiential business at GroupM (WPP) creating a sustainability-minded endurance sports strategy and negotiating and managing partnerships with Madison Square Garden, Major League Soccer and Live Nation. He was asked to stand up a business solutions team that delivered research and creative platform strategy across all agency clients (i.e. Citi, Xerox, and Unilever). He also worked at Major League Baseball (MLB), launching the joint venture Australian Baseball League and Utility, a digital studio that builds solutions for brands including Airbnb,
Samsung and the AVP. He began his career at the Jackie Robinson Foundation, helping create the Jackie Robinson Day partnership with MLB and serving as the Robinson family’s speechwriter.
A culinary and travel enthusiast, Gary earned his Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Advanced Certificate and received a Wine Australia Scholarship. He has served on advisory committees for the James Beard Foundation and built the Queens Cooks Experience with Lady Gaga. A passionate hiker, Gary loves exploring National Parks and has ventured to 40+ countries. He earned an MBA from Columbia, a B.S. Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell and studied at Melbourne University (AUS)
